Fisher Adams Kelly Announces Three New Science-centric Associates

Being named ‘inventor’ on key patents belonging to a listed, Australian biotechnology company, receiving first author credits on international science journal papers and being sought out by overseas inventors, are just a few of the many highlights that pepper the bio’s of Fisher Adams Kelly’s newest Associates – Declan McKeveney, Hedie Meka and Paul Warden-Hutton.


Paul, Hedie and Declan, who joined Fisher Adams Kelly in 2004, 2005 and 2006 respectively, all came on board having already been acknowledged as leaders in their specialist fields – both academically and professionally.


For Paul, this included a PhD in Medical Science (Biophysics), as well as experience with a Japanese firm of Patent Attorneys where he specialised in Japanese, US and European prosecution of both Biotechnology and ICT related technologies.


Now Paul focuses on patents and trade marks in the areas of biophysics, spectroscopy, biochemistry, medical devices, systems biology and computational chemistry – a combination of scientific expertise and international experience that has been recognised internationally by scientists engaging him from overseas.

Similarly, Hedie’s expertise has been widely sought throughout her career, having been asked to present at international science conferences and receiving international publishing credits. Hedie also has several years post-doctoral experience to add to her credentials, including two post-doctoral positions at

Imperial College (London) and Oxford University.Now at Fisher Adams Kelly, she specialises in working with microbiology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, molecular virology and structural biology clients. Some of her notable recent experience includes management of patent and trade mark portfolios for clients, patent infringement matters, drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

On the Chemistry Team, Declan is similarly accredited, with a PhD in chemistry and research experience in the fields of organic, biological and medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, with particular expertise in the design, synthesis and screening of combinatorial libraries.

While working for a biotechnology company Declan was recognised as the creator of intellectual property used to target a variety of disease processes. He has recently been applying his expertise to innovations in the fields of nanotechnology, drug delivery systems and small molecule therapeutics.
